Just to advise that we have heard through the international Chamber of
Shipping that with the closure of the Netherlands consulate yesterday, all EU
diplomatic missions in the Philippines except that of Spain have closed due to
the resurgence of COVID-19. Presumably, the Spanish mission can continue to
issue Schengen visas but if so, will be incredibly busy. This will of course
impact adversely on the ability of incoming seafarers to obtain visas to enter
the EU/Schengen region, and therefore also on off-signers leaving the vessel
due to the lack of replacement crew.
